Parks & Beaches

The Sebastian River Area has numerous parks for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. Below you’ll find a variety of parks that are perfect for walking, jogging, exploring, playing, exercising, fishing, camping, and other types of recreational activities.

 

Barber Street Sports Complex

950 Barber Street, Sebastian

The premier sporting facility for the City of Sebastian, Barber Streets Sports Complex is host to our sporting fields. On the facility you’ll fine baseball and softball fields, a regulation size football field, peewee football filed and an open practice field. Not only does the complex provide traditional fields, but you’ll also find a place to practice your X-Factor skills at the Sebastian Skate Park. And there is also something for the young athletes in the family too at the “Creative Playground” which provides play equipment, swings and restroom facilities.

 

Blossom Street Park

Another one of the community’s “neighborhood” parks, Blossom Street Park offers swings, slides, play equipment shade shelters and open space.

 

Blue Cypress Park

Blue Cypress Lake, considered part of the headwaters of the St. Johns River, is a large lake situated approximately 35 miles west of Vero Beach.

Blue Cypress Park is located at 7400 Blue Cypress Lake Road, approximately 23 miles west of I-95. Features include 2 boat launches, a floating dock, paved parking, grass overflow parking, restroom facilities with showers and 2 covered pavilions. Activities include bird-watching, wildlife viewing, fishing, seasonal hunting, bicycling, canoeing and hiking along many miles of levees. Primitive camping is allowed in designated areas. An air boat launch is also available.

This area is part of the Upper St. Johns River Basin Project implemented by St. Johns River Water Management District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Eastern portion of the area contains foraging and nesting habitat for the endangered Snail Kite. Wetland dependent species found here include Great Blue Herons, White Ibis, Snowy Egrets, Limpkins, and Night Herons. Other birds using the area include endangered Wood Storks, Ospreys and Bald Eagles.

Blue Cypress Park is located at 7400 Blue Cypress Lake Road.

 

Bryant Court Park

Another “neighborhood park” located or Bryant Court. This park provides play equipment, shade shelters and open space.

 

Dale Wimbrow Park

11805 Roseland Road, Roseland

Dale Wimbrow Park lies along the Sebastian River. Features include a large playground with new equipment, picnic pavilions, an event pavilion (reservation required), restrooms, boat launch, fitness trail, paved parking, fishing access, BBQ grills and pay phone. Park is open every day from 7:30am until sunset. Please call Donald MacDonald Park at 772-589-0087 for more information or to rent the pavilion.

 

Donald MacDonald Park

12315 Roseland Road, Roseland

Donald MacDonald Park lies on the Sebastian River. Features include 29 primitive campsites and one site with electricty, an observation boardwalk, boat launch, restrooms with showers, fire pits, concrete picnic tables. The Park is open 365 days per year. There are no reservations taken and camping availability is on a first come first serve basis. Donald MacDonald Ranger's Office also has a Multipurpose Room available for rentals. For more information, please call 772-589-0087.

 

Easy Street Park

Located at the intersections of Easy and Lake Street, Easy Street Park is home to Easy Lake. Around the lake you’ll find many amenities to enjoy this beautiful setting. Play equipment, shaded picnic tables and a 1/3 mile walkway that loops around the lake.

 

Fellsmere Trailhead Preserve

Situated on approximately 86 acres, this park will provide numerous passive recreation amenities that will be developed through a 10-year management plan including: walking trails, primitive camping and trailhead welcome center.

Filbert Street Park

Another one of the community’s “neighborhood” parks, Filbert Park offer swings, slides, play equipment shade shelters and open space.

 

Friendship Park

Located behind the City Hall Complex at 1225 Main Street, Friendship Park provides many recreational opportunities and a special ambience. Some of the recreation amenities at this park include 4-Clay Tennis Courts, Horseshoe pit, bocce ball and shuffle board courts, playground sets and a youth baseball field. In additional to these facilities, the park also has picnic areas and handicap play equipment.

Garden Club Park

Come enjoy one of Sebastian’s passive parks along Barber Street where you can enjoy the scenic view of the lake and flowers.

 

George Street Park

Located at the intersection of Barber and George Streets, George Street Park is part of Sebastian’s neighborhood park system. George Street Park offers play equipment, slides, swings and picnic tables.

 

Golden Sands Park

10240 Highway A1A, Vero Beach, FL 32963

Golden Sands Beach has lifeguards, a playground, restrooms and showers, paved parking and picnic pavilions. Hours are from 7:00 a.m. until sunset. ADA beach access.

 

Grant Park

1039 & 1040 West Grant Avenue, Fellsmere

Grant Park is located in the heart of the historic Hall, Carter, and James subdivision. Situated on 1.35 acres the park provides the following amenities: basketball courts, jungle gym, pavilions with tables, water fountains, and lighting. Park improvements include a walking trail, water features, and restroom facilities.

 

Hardee Park

Located off of Barber Street, Hardee Park is a primary location to exercise or relax with the kids at the play ground. Located along at the intersections of the Collier Creek Canal and Lake Hardee, the park offers a ½ mile walking/jogging trail. In addition the park provides open space, play ground equipment and restroom facilities.

 

Lions Club Park

CR 512 & Broadway, Fellsmere
The Lions Club Park is located at the northeast corner of the CR512 and Broadway Street intersection. Situated on approximately ¾ of an acre the park is a site dedicated to the honor of Veterans that have served the United States of America. Funding for various improvements has been provided by the Lions Club of Fellsmere.

Little League Park

4 South Broadway Street, Fellsmere

The Little League Park is situated in the heart of downtown Fellsmere just east of the Old School at 4 South Broadway Street. The park is situated on 4.5 acres and provides the following amenities: baseball field, batting cage, three pavilions with tables, walking path, water features, and restroom facilities.

 

Main Street Park

For those fisherman and boaters requiring access to the Indian River, with just a short ride directly across the intracoastal to reach the Sebastian Inlet and the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The Main Street Boat Ramp is located at the intersection of Main Street and Indian River Drive, just off US Highway 1. This facility provides a concrete boat ramp, with parking readily available and restroom facilities. Newly renovated, this ramp area provides easy access around the center of the Sebastian Waterfront District and gets boaters easily in and out of the water and parking facilities incorporated within the ramp facility.

For those not venturing out into the water, the Main Street Docks/Boat Ramp also has fishing piers and cleaning areas for your catch.

Finally, the area also host to Heritage Circle, a small park area, across the Street from the Sebastian Chamber of Commerce, providing a place to see and panoramic views of the Indian River and learn about Sebastian’s history and the Hardee Oak.

 

North County Regional Park

North County Regional Park is located on CR-512, approximately 1.5 miles east of I-95. The Park is located within the St. Sebastian Buffer Preserve State Park, which extends from West of I-95 to the South Prong of the Sebastian River, north of CR-512.

Phase I improvements to the park included an Olympic pool and diving facilities, a 7,000 sf zero entry activity pool and a pool building.

Phase II includes the construction of 4 multipurpose baseball fields, concession stand/ press box, 2 shelters, a maintenance building and playground. The activities will be coordinated through IRC Recreation Department and maintenance will be by the IRC Parks Division. The facilities are equipped with lighting for nighttime use and have bathroom facilities within the concession stand/press box building.

 

North Sebastian Conservation Area

The North Sebastian Conservation Area consists of 407 acres with 18 trails ranging from easy to difficult where you can hike, walk, bike, or horseback ride and enjoy various plants and wildlife. The conservation area is located west of US Highway 1, north of Main Street (in Sebastian) and south of Roseland Road. The conservation area is bounded on the western perimeter by Sebastian Airport and the Sebastian Golf Course. The area is primarily xeric oak scrub, a globally and locally endangered habitat (FNAI). Other habitats include: Sand and Pine Scrub, Sand Pine Forest, Scrubby Flatwoods, Mesic Pine Flatwoods, Wet Flatwoods (osprey nesting area), Freshwater Marsh, Upland Hardwood Forest, Wetland Forested Mix, Shrub, Brushland, freshwater Ponds and Lakes.

The primary purpose of the Northern Sebastian Conservation Area (NSCA) is the protection and enhancement of native scrub habitat. The sand pine scrub, scrubby flatwoods and xeric oak scrub communities, comprising approximately one third of the conservation area, are classified as rare or imperiled both globally and statewide by the Florida Natural Areas Inventories and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Public facilities include parking off of Main Street, adjacent to the Sebastian City Hall Complex, boardwalks, fishing piers, over 5 miles of trails, restrooms, parking, horse trailer parking and educational signage throughout the Conservation Area.

 

Riverview Park

Riverview Park is the pride of the community and primary event and gathering point for the City of Sebastian. Located at the corner of US Highway 1 and CR512, Riverview Park is located along the shores of the Indian River. The park host major events and concerts such as the Annual Clam Bake Festival, Pelican Island Wildlife Festival, Sebastian Fine Arts and Music Event, the 4th of July Celebrations and the seasonal Music in the Park Concert Series hosted by the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce. With its mix of open space and oak covered walkways, Riverview Park offers panoramic views of the River and recreational opportunities for everyone.

In additional to the major events that are held at Riverview Park, you will also find the Splash Pad, Veteran’s War Memorial, sand volley ball courts, picnic pavilions, and the “Twin Piers” for observation of the river or fishing. Riverview Park is also the starting point for the scenic walkways which follow along the shores of the Riverfront District.

Roseland Ball Field

Roseland Ballfield, also known as Helen Hanson Park, is located at 8020 129th Court in Roseland. Features include a full-service ball field with concession stand, restrooms and bleachers. Adjacent to the park is a children's playground. Hours are from 7:00am until sunset. Roseland Community Center Park

Roseland Community Center is located at 12925 83rd Avenue in Roseland. Features include a community building, boardwalk to the Sebastian River, covered pavilion, playground and bar-b-que grill. The park is a beautiful place to have a picnic and enjoy the shady green space next to the river. Hours are from 7am until sunset.

Schumann Drive Park

600-698 Schumann Drive, Sebastian

Schumann Park provides 6 – hard surface tennis courts and 2 basketball courts. In addition, the facility also provides play equipment, swing sets, water fountains, shade shelters and restrooms.

 

Schumann Lake Park

Located off Kildare – Schumann Lake provides a great place for scenic walks and fishing. Come and check out the walking trails and the canoe boat lunch facilities – but please not motorized boats

 

Sebastian "Bark" Park - Dog Park

At this facility, located just off Keen Terrace, you’ll find all you need to keep your dog entertained and exercised. With watering facilities, sally-port entries and a small and large dog section, the park is complete with shade and picnic areas for owners. The park is open from dawn til' dusk daily. Open to the public and FREE admission. The park features a small and large dog separate areas, handicap parking, drinking fountain, pond, benches, covered picnic tables. Also a walking trail around the lake along with a bridge across the lake. The park is currently 7½ acres in size.

 

Sebastian Inlet State Park

9700 S. State Road A1A, Melbourne Beach, Florida 32951

The premier saltwater fishing spot on Florida's east coast, this park is a favorite for anglers nationwide for catching snook, redfish, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel from its jetties. Surfing is also a popular recreation and several major competitions are held here every year. Two museums provide a history of the area. The McLarty Treasure Museum features the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet; the Sebastian Fishing Museum tells the history of the area's fishing industry. Three miles of beautiful beaches provide opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, shelling, and sunbathing. Canoeing and kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon are also favorite pastimes. Visitors can relax with a stroll down the mile-long Hammock Trail. Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas are great for family outings. Full-facility campsites and a boat ramp are available. Located on State Road A1A 7 miles north of CR 510.

 

Sebastian Storm Water Park

This property, 175 acres, is a community multi-use amenity. The stormwater portion of the property services more than 1,400 acres of primarily residential development. Water from the canal system moves through this system before entering the South Prong of the Sebastian River. The property also contains uplands. Multi-use trails meander through the property, providing quality passive recreation in an urban area.

Florida scrub jays and gopher tortoise can be observed in the eastern portion of the property. A variety of wading birds are typically visible in the created and natural wetlands.

Recreational activities include hiking, bicycling and wildlife viewing.

The parking area and access point to the property is located on the south side of Englar Drive. From U.S. 1, go west on Barber Street, turn north on Schumann Drive and west onto Englar Drive. From Sebastian Boulevard (County Road 512), turn east on Barber Drive, then take a left onto Englar Drive.

Senior League Park

224 South Oleander Street, Fellsmere
The Senior League Park is located on the southwest side of the historic City limits at 224 South Oleander Street. The park is situated on 8.85 acres and provides the following amenities: softball fields, two pavilions, playground, two soccer fields, restrooms facilities, water fountains, walking path, water features, and lighting.

 

Skate Park

Located off of Barber Street, the Skate Park is a Skate Boarding Facility for beginner and advanced skaters.

 

St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park

1000 Buffer Preserve Drive, Fellsmere, Florida 32948

The St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park has 21,951 acres of preserve with great trails for walking, and horseback riding. Visitors may see manatees, birds, otters, rare plants, and various other wildlife. This site preserves open grassy forests of longleaf pine that were once commonplace throughout Florida. The pine flatwoods form a backdrop for other biological communities, including cypress domes, scrubby flatwoods, sandhills, and a beautiful strand swamp. These habitats are home to many native plants and animals, including over 50 protected species. Photographers, bird-watchers, and nature enthusiasts can explore miles of trails on foot, bicycle, or horseback. Canoeing, boating, and fishing on the St. Sebastian River are popular activities. Launching facilities are available outside the preserve at Dale Wimbrow Park and several private ramps along the St. Sebastian River, and at a canoe launch north of County Road 512.

Tennis & Handball Court

57 North Cypress Street, Fellsmere

This park is located across from Fellsmere Elementary School. Situated on approximately ½ acre at the northeast corner of the North Cypress Street and Colorado Avenue intersection the amenities include a tennis court, handball court, and lighting.

 

Treasure Shores Beach Park

Treasure Shores Beach is located three miles north of CR 510 (Wabasso Bridge). The park hours are from sunrise to sunset. There is ADA beach access, walking trails, restrooms and showers, picnic tables, and a playground.

 

Wabasso Beach Park

Wabasso Beach features include restroom facilities, boardwalk, paved parking and showers. Hours are from 7:00 am until sunset. Lifeguards are on duty from 9am - 5pm. ADA beach access.

 

Wabasso Caussway Park

1820 Wabasso Beach Rd., Wabasso,

Enjoy a picnic lunch or just take in the view. Features include a boat launch, restroom facilities, picnic tables, covered pavilions, paved parking area and canoe launch. Hours are from 7:00 am until sunset (restrooms only)
